Like press releases and article submissions, posting videos on the Internet involves little or no cost.  As along as you have a little actor built into you then videos in my opinion can be a great medium for you.  The reason being is that videos tend to show a very personal side of you; something that does not come through so evidently in an article or press release.  Your audience can definitely relate more to you in a video.

All you need is a camera that can create a digital video.  In today’s market, these can be very affordable.  You can get a FlipVideo for about $150.  They produce a fair image.  If you listen to some of the gurus out there a few may tell you that you should get a super LX video camera.  I don’t believe this is necessary, especially at first.  Some of them may also tell you to get a super terrific lightening system; I’m not sure this is necessary either.  I’ve seen some pretty basic low budget videos out there and many of these come off very well.

The best thing is to do your homework.  Go to YouTube, Break.com, Viddler.com, etc and see what’s out there.  Do a search for the type of videos you would like to post and get some ideas not only about content and topic, but also the lighting and the atmosphere.  Are there any titles, how about background music.  Is there evidence of a highly crafted script or do they appear to be winging it?  Figure out what would work best for you and start doing a story board and/or write your own script.

My YouTube site is, www.youtube.com/peteraholst.  A few of my favorite YouTube channels are: vlogbrothers, sxephil, mlmdebate, and drpetergratale.  There are obviously tons more including those on viddler.com and break.com.

Once you’ve made your video you can certainly post it yourself on any of the video sites.  You can also subscribe to services like TubeMogul or Traffic Geyser who will post your videos on all of the video sites.

Like articles and press releases, the more you post and more consistently you post the better your results as far as increasing your Internet presence.

Thanks for following me. Good informational article on the use of video posts as PR. But why didn’t you use video to say what you wrote. THen you have the detail to be extracted from your print along with the immediacy of video. My other email (which may not continue much longer) mgaines4u@aol.com

Best wishes for your continued good health and success.
